How To Choose The Right Skip

Local skip hire and prices

We know that it can be very confusing trying to decide which skip to hire, which is why we want to provide you with some information to help. At Reliable Skip Hire Isle of Wight, we supply a range of skip sizes that can be used for a variety of reasons, use our tips to find the best one for your needs.

Your Needs

Before you start trying to order your skip you need to think about what you’re going to be using it for. You could be clearing out your garage, doing a big DIY job at home, or running a construction business. All of which can benefit from different sizes. You will need to decide which size is most useful depending on how much waste you need to get rid of. Make sure to take a look at our waste restrictions guide before you hire a skip so you know they are suitable for your needs.

Find Your Size

Our main range of skips comes in 4 sizes including 4, 6, 8, and 12 yards. The smallest one is really useful for those smaller household projects and garden work. They can definitely help you save some time with their convenience. If you have a larger job such as a construction project, you will be better off with a larger size such as the 12-yard. We have a size guide on our website with more in-depth information on our sizes and what their best uses are. However, if you need some further help on what size to hire, you can always contact our customer service team for some more advice. If you have more specific needs please contact us so we can provide information on material-only skips or larger sizes.

What If I Fill It Early?

If you manage to fill your skip to the fill lines before your project is finished, we can sort out an exchange for a bigger size. For this, you will need to process a new order and state in the notes “THIS IS AN EXCHANGE”. Please make sure to not overfill your skip as it will not be collected by the driver and you will incur a wasted journey charge of £85 + VAT. Loading an overfilled skip onto the delivery truck can create a serious risk to the health of other people and is avoided at all costs. If you need to have your skip collected earlier than expected, please contact us so we can arrange this for you.

There are many factors that go into ordering the correct skip for your needs. Always check which one is best for you before ordering to avoid charges or prolonged changes. It’s much easier to hire a larger size than an exchange once you have filled it. Use our size guide and waste restrictions guide to gain knowledge before hiring.
